Whitlock Breaks World Record!
EZE Group’s darts sensation Simon Whitlock is a world
record holder after hitting the bullseye from the longest distance ever.
Whitlock, who has been sponsored by EZE Group since the beginning of the year, took part in a challenge to beat the existing record of 5.05 metres at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne on Monday.
And it took the Australian ace just four minutes to take that record away from former England cricket star Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff as he pinned the bull from 5.1 metres.
The world number four went on to beat his own record twice more before his World Cup team-mate Paul Nicholson matched the feat of bedding the bullseye from a whopping 5.235 metres to share the world record.
“I’m very proud to have a world record to my name,” said Whitlock, the former European Darts Champion.
“There was a bit of pressure ahead of this attempt so it was nice to beat Freddie nice and early and I’m only
too happy to share the record with a top darts player and friend in Paul Nicholson.
“It was all about keeping my technique as close to normal as possible and aiming very, very high. It’s a cool thing to have to your name and it is great to have done it here in Australia.”
Whitlock is back in Australia ahead of the PDC’s second event of their new World Series, the Sydney Darts Masters, which takes place at the end of the month.
